Starting Zephyr® sampling

Begin measuring with Zephyr®

Pre-deployment Checks

Full Charge

If a Zephyr is going to be on solar power, ensure it’s fully charged with the indoor charger before deployment. Charging from empty to full takes around 4 hours.

Local Connectivity

Press the button three times in quick succession to prompt the Zephyr to connect to a local network, if one is available. See more detailed instructions in the article below. If the Zephyr fails to find a local network (it doesn’t flash green at the end of the connection, or its details don’t update in MyAir), don’t worry - contact support@earthsense.co.uk to speak to one of our team who can support you remotely.

Start Sampling

  • One long press
  • Releasing when LED shows green
  • Confirm the Zephyr is sampling - showing a persistent green flash. You will also see a red flash if the Zephyr is plugged in.
In this example, the sampling programme (SP) is started and the Zephyr shows both
In this example, the sampling programme (SP) is started and the Zephyr shows both red and green flashes to indicate it is both measuring and charging.
💡

When sampling, the LED will flash green to represent the active sampling programme. The LED will flash red as well as green if receiving power from an external source, such as a solar panel. You may also see a blue pulse when the Zephyr takes in a new sample of air.

Always ensure the Zephyr is in sampling mode when you leave site.

Post Deployment

By default, Zephyr uploads data every 15 minutes, so data may not be available in MyAir immediately after starting sampling. You can check connectivity by looking at MyAir’s Device Manager page and the Zephyr’s last connection times.

We always encourage a call to our support team while you’re on-site so we can confirm connectivity and full operation.
